Code Noir neemt je mee op een culinaire reis om een beter inzicht te krijgen in de culturele en koloniale erfenis van mondiale handelsroutes en de effecten ervan op de Caribische keuken en cultuur. Code Noir was de naam van een 17e-eeuws decreet dat de vrijheid van de tot slaaf gemaakte mensen in de Franse koloniën van de Nieuwe Wereld beperkte. Bij Het Nationale Theater wordt Code Noir omgezet in een meeslepende eetervaring die zijn gasten laat zien hoe de wereldwijde uitwisseling van goederen de hedendaagse gerechten heeft beïnvloed – ten goede of ten kwade.

This 4-course dining experience is a brought to you by chef and culinary activist Lelani Lewis, with performances from Joana Velu, Rachel Rumai Diaz and Yannick Hiwat. Combine dinner with the theatrical walk The Hague and Slavery, which in the afternoon takes you past places in The Hague that played a role in the colonial and slavery past. Actors tell stories at the locations along the route. The walk starts at 2:00 PM.
