Het festivalconcept duikt in uitersten als snel tegenover langzaam, hoog versus laag en zwaar en licht. Geluid in de breedste zin wordt hierin ingezet als krachtig medium voor expressie.
Het festival brengt deze sterke uitersten samen om een geluidservaring te creëren die de waarneming uitdaagt en uitnodigt tot reflectie. Het publiek zal getuige zijn van uitvoeringen die overgaan van serieus naar vrolijk, van korte uitbarstingen naar langgerekte composities, om zo de grote rijkweidte van geluidskunst te laten zien.
Verwacht een viering van contrast, waar grenzen vervagen en geluid op diepgaande, onverwachte manieren betekenis geeft.

Zaterdag 19 okt
'Wim T. Schippers schittert in afwezigheid'
Op zaterdag is de première van een nieuwe voorstelling door de Nederlandse kunstenaar, komiek, televisiemaker en stemacteur (Ernie) Wim T. Schippers, in samenwerking met LOOS oprichter en componist Peter van Bergen. In de voorstelling spelen onder andere niemand minder dan percussionist Paul Koek (Theatergroep Hollandia, de Veenfabriek) en acteur Titus Muizelaar.
Zondag 20 okt
Op zondag is er een programma van live optredens, samengesteld door gastcurator Farzaneh Nouri.

Geluidskunst in Den Haag

Wat is geluidskunst?
Geluidskunst is een diverse en interdisciplinaire kunstvorm die voornamelijk geluid, akoestiek en auditieve elementen als expressiemiddel gebruikt. Het breekt met traditionele opvattingen over muziek door de artistieke en esthetische kwaliteiten van geluid zélf te benadrukken, in plaats van zich uitsluitend te concentreren op dingen als melodie, harmonie of ritme. Geluidskunstenaars werken vaak met verschillende sonische elementen, waaronder veldopnames, ‘gevonden’ geluiden, elektronische synthese en gesproken woord, om meeslepende en tot nadenken stemmende ervaringen te creëren.

The 2nd Annual Hague International Sound Art Festival invites audiences to explore the captivating contrasts of sound through the theme "Arsis vs Thesis."
The concept delves into extreme opposites, like fast versus slow, high versus low, and heavy versus light, using sound as a powerful medium for expression.
The festival brings together these stark dichotomies to craft a sonic experience that challenges perceptions and invites reflection. Audiences will witness performances that transition from serious to cheerful, from short bursts to elongated compositions, highlighting the dynamic range of sound art.
It’s a celebration of contrast, where boundaries blur, and sound shapes meaning in profound, unexpected ways.

'Wim T. Schippers shines by absence.'
Saturday will see the premiere of a new performance by Dutch artist, comedian, television director, and voice actor Wim T. Schippers, together with LOOS founder and composer Peter van Bergen. With performances by a.o. none other than percussionist Paul Koek (Hollandia, de Veenfabriek) and actor Titus Muizelaar.
