De legendarische geluidskunstenaar Alvin Curran neemt een centrale plek in op Rewire
2025 met een uitgebreid focusprogramma. Dit omvat het iconische werk Maritime Rites,
uitgevoerd op de Hofvijver naast het parlementsgebouw, een compositie geschreven
voorvan een grote groep musici in bootjes. Ook zijn belangrijke werk Canti Illuminati – een
eerbetoon aan de menselijke stem, en een solo performance met sjofar, piano en elektronica
wordt gepresenteerd, tevens gaat componist Yannis Kyriakides in een gesprek met Curran.
Openingsprogramma in en rond de Koninklijke Schouwburg
De openingsavond op donderdag 3 april speelt zich af in en rond de Koninklijke Schouwburg
en de Haagse Hofvijver. Naast Alvin Curran’s Maritime Rites presenteert de Kianí Del Valle
Performance Group, Tayhana & Hamill Industries de multidisciplinaire dansvoorstelling
CORTEX, een intieme verkenning van verlies, eenzaamheid en sterfelijkheid. Alessandro
Cortini completeert de avond met een hypnotiserende live-set, gebaseerd op zijn nieuwste
album.

Rewire 2025’s artist-in-focus programme is based around the masterful experimenter Alvin
Curran. At the festival’s opening night on 3 April, Curran’s Maritime Rites takes to The
Hague’s inner-city body of water, the iconic Hofvijver beside the parliament building, for a
performance of numerous musicians in boats. On Friday, Curran performs solo with shofar,
piano, and electronics, ahead of his conversation with composer and sound artist Yannis
Kyriakides on Saturday. On Sunday, Curran’s tribute to the world’s first instrument – the
human voice – Canti Illuminati will be performed with live vocalists – tapping into the
ancestral and deeply human tones summoned in the piece.
Opening in and around the Koninklijke Schouwburg
This year's edition will have it's opening in and around our main venue, the Koninklijke Schouwburg (Royal Theatre) and the Hofvijver. Next to Alvin Curran's Maritime Rites, it will see the dance piece CORTEX by Performance Group, Tayhana & Hamill Industries — an intimate exploration of loss, loneliness and mortality. The evening is completed by a hypnotic live-set by Alessandro Cortini, based on his latest album.
