The foyer of Theater aan het Spui is the perfect place for (unexpected) encounters. On September 7, the foyer will become an art market during The Hague's Spotlight Festival! Emerging artists from in and around The Hague exhibit their work. You can view and buy their work at the market.

Next to this, you can view the exhibition Shout into the crowd: Artists work in Horeca, curated by WaitingSnake Studios, which showcases the work of artists who work in the catering of Het Nationale Theater. Drop by; the bar is open and there is food from Pazze e Pizze.

The foyer of Theater aan het Spui was actually designed to be a space that can be experienced as an urban intersection, a public place where people can meet and interact. What better place to feel the vibe of an urban intersection than at an art market?

Shout into the crowd: Artists Work in Horeca

Shout into the crowd: Artists Work in Horeca is an exhibition showcasing artists working in the horeca (catering) department of Het Nationale Theater. Curated by WaitingSnake Studios – run by Emily Stevenhagen and Clara Sharell – this exhibition brings together the artists Sonya Usamskaia, Ira Grünberger, Bjarte Wildeman, Tinka Kovačič, Peter Pflügler, Enrico Carpi and Madelief Severin, presenting their projects in the foyer of Theater aan het Spui.

For five weeks, accompanied by a performance program on the 10th of September, these artists will present their projects; ranging from photography, installation, film, illustration and performance, within the building where they work.

Shout into the crowd: Artist’s Work in Horeca attempts to shine light on the combined work lives of emerging artists, where artists often work in Horeca of cultural institutions to support themselves and their practices.
